Homeschooling with busy toddler in the house

In our home there is always some form of learning. We learn from books, we learn from our surrounding, we learn when we think we aren't learning.

With all 3 little goose so close in age, homeschooling can become somewhat of a challenge. Sometime when I teach a specific subject to our oldest, our youngest gets into mischief like this.

"I got into mama's makeup box, see I use mascara and lipstick all by myself.  And she couldn't find me, because I was hidding under my sister's bed to make my face all pretty with no mirror. I am an artist!"

This little goose finds new and creative way to make me rethink how to get things out of her reach, and how to keep her little hands busy in a productive kind of way.

I try many approach with her, toys used only when we do school, craft easy for her to do without my help, snacks and sometime even watching tv. Nothing is 100% "keep me busy and happy" type of deal. So I try to include her and her high level of energy.

So we do school at the kitchen table all together, doing puzzles or playing with a toy computer (she says she is checking her emails)

When the weather is nice, we bring the classroom outside, and there is always something to do there, to keep her busy and happy.

And for our middle child, I give her a book, let her be comfortable in her pajamas and that makes her happy. Yes, she loves Amelia Bedilia, and so do I.

How about you, if your kids are close in age, how do you get your school days running smoothly?

  1. Sounds like you have a good plan! My girls are older, but we do school at the same time, too.

Hope you have a great week!

    1. I think that having the close in age will get to my advantage for homeschooling later :-)

  2. Wellllll...I have a few not doing school yet so they usually play together. They are usually content with their toys, but sometimes they bicker and that is no fun...Then I just have to interrupt school and deal with the bad attitudes.
By the way, that is such a pretty, flowery couch!

    1. Thank you

And oh the bickering, I hear ya!!!!

  3. Aww I loved Amelia Bedelia when I was a kid and my kids do too! We're thinking about homeschooling this's new for us. Ahhh! Wish me luck! :)
